Busy Week? who’s helped you get through it?

Ever feel like your wading through thick sludge and not really making progress? I guess this week’s been a little like that for me. I’m normally okay with working at my day job, writing, family life, and trying to set up a decent release schedule, but today it all feels quite hard. I don’t want to complain, that’s not what this is about. I want to be successful as an author and get my books out to readers who enjoy them, so this isn’t about that, after all, I could just …stop, as people have reminded me this week. No, it’s about giving up, it’s about the frustration of not having enough hours in the day to plan everything properly or put the time and energy into writing that I’d like to be able to.

My mind got so muddled with what I was supposed to be doing that I haven’t been productive in much at all. I’ve found taking a step back and trying to be objective about what is really important, along with writing a list of what I need to do has been helpful. Not the list itself but writing everything in my head down and then crossing off what isn’t vital. I found it easier to keep things in perspective that way. A bit of fresh air, a walk with my dally pup, and an icy bite to the wind on my face also helped.

I hope you are managing to achieve what you want this week and to keep things in perspective, too. Why don’t you let me know what works for you when you want to calm your thoughts a little?
