So I did a thing…Â
As an indie author basically you are running a business alone. Everything is your responsibility to complete. I have spent thousands on marketing courses that I either don’t understand or don’t have the time to complete. It’s quite ridiculous really when I think about it. Because of this, I have decided to do as some of the bigger authors suggest and outsource some of my responsibility. Essentially the Amazon advertising side of things.
This makes me very nervous as I am a person who often feels no one will work as hard for my business as I will. It makes me anxious to hand over a large sum of money to a third party to produce ads for me and to just cross my fingers and hope they don’t take me for a ride.
But that is what I’ve done. Please cross your fingers for me too and hope that they are worth the money and the anxiety!Â
I’ll let you know in a month or two how it went. I really hope they work. It’s not just about the money but also about the amount of time it might save me. I still work full time and don’t see that changing anytime soon. That means time is short for me, and the longer I spend trying to understand how advertising works, the less time I have to write in the evenings.Â
It’s an experiment to see if I am making a huge and expensive mistake, or taking a long-term positive decision for my author business. It’s time to take advice and trust other people to help me.
I guess time will tell….
